Student Assistant Mentor- Intercultural Engagement and Leadership

Purpose:  To improve student access, success, and completion of higher education through mentoring, tutoring, or advising services. Assisting in the navigation of higher education admission and financial aid process including student support services and resources.

Duties:  Duties listed are not a comprehensive scope and may include additional duties as needed:

·        Empower students to successfully navigate college application and admission process

·        Provide a model for a healthy, engaged and balanced student/campus life

·        Identify and acknowledge student strengths, talents and gifts and encourage them to develop and utilize them.

·        Provide guidance, motivation, emotional support and resources to strengthen certificate or degree completion.

Eligibility: Student must

·        Be classified by the institution as a Texas Resident

·        Be registered with Selective Service, or be exempt

·        Have financial need

·        Be enrolled in at least ½ time at A&M-Commerce in a plan leading to a degree or certification

·        Not be a recipient of an athletic scholarship (i.e., student is obliged to plan an intercollegiate sport as a condition of receiving the scholarship) during any semester that student is awarded WSMP funds

·        Not be enrolled in a seminary or other program leading to ordination or licensure to preach for a religious sect or to be a member of a religious order.
