Photographer (Work Study)

Join our Campus Recreation Marketing team as a Photographer/Videographer, where you’ll capture department programs, services, and facilities through photography and videography. You'll work 10-15 hours a week under the supervision of the Coordinator of Marketing to create engaging visual content that aligns with our branding standards. Key responsibilities include assisting with marketing strategies, taking photos and videos during events, utilizing DSLR cameras and audio production techniques, and using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, or After Effects for editing. Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with others are essential.

Interview Timeframe

  • Week of September 9

If hired, you must attend:

  • In-person pre-hire form, Week of September 16
  • In-person on-boarding at Human Resources: 30 minutes, Week of September 23
  • In-person mandatory department new hire training: 2 hours, Week of September 30
  • In-person mandatory area new hire training: 3-10 hours, Week of September 30

Hiring requirements all Campus Recreation positions

  • If a student of Texas A&M University-Commerce must be currently enrolled or pre-registered in classes holding at least part-time status of 6 hours for undergraduate and 3 hours for graduate.
  • Must pass State of Texas background check.

 

Job requirements and responsibilities for all Campus Recreation positions:

  • Must possess a current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification or obtain certification before the first day on the job. (condition of employment)
  • Not work more than 19 hours per week during fall and spring semesters (Applies to all positions worked on campus).
  • Wear the required work uniform to include a Campus Recreation top as outermost apparel. Bottoms and footwear are program area dependent.
  • Attend mandatory meetings, trainings, and in-services
  • Follow and enforce all Campus Recreation policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of and ability to promote programs offered by Campus Recreation
  • Obtain participant feedback and provide input on programs and services
  • Serve in an integral role with the Campus Recreation Emergency Action Plan (EAP)

Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for photographing and videoing department programs, services, and facilities as well as maintaining a consistent visual identity to represent, advertise and promote the department.

 

Program Area: Marketing

Supervision: Coordinator of Marketing

Hours/Week: 10-15

Level: Entry

 

Primary duties:

  • Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies and initiatives for Campus Recreation programs, facilities, services, and business operations.
  • Takes photos and videos of various departmental events which include evenings and weekends.
  • Effectively use DSLR, lighting and audio production techniques, and photography equipment operation.
  • Perform production functions involving lighting and audio recording.
  • Develop promotional videos and campaigns.
  • Responsible for sorting, organizing, and filing images and videos.
  • Utilize various video/photography delivery systems.
  • Utilize Smumug to catalog and store departments photos
  • Assist the Coordinator of Marketing in scheduling photo/video shoots to record various activities.
  • Meet project deadlines so that events are properly recorded and advertised.
  • Collaborate with others in the marketing program to complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Maintain graphic standards of the University and the Department of Campus Recreation.
  • Organize multiple projects at a time.
  • Utilize MAC computers to perform job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for Considerations:

  • Demonstrated understanding and skills in Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom (preferable) for editing photos
  • Demonstrated understanding and skills in Adobe Premiere or After Effects for video
  • Demonstrated understanding and skills using photography equipment
