Work Study Student Worker-Kitchen Assistant

Work Study are a vital part of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Children’s Learning Center program. Kitchen Assistants help to provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality is respected. Previous experience working with children preferred. With that in mind, below are the criteria or job responsibilities for the position of Kitchen Assistant:

1.    Assist cook with day to day activities in kitchen to provide the children with healthy meals.

2.    Cleans according to health code and sanitization standards put for by the State of Texas and Hunt County.

3.    Stocks consumable items on a daily basis in kitchen and classrooms.

4.    Sanitizes dishes for daily use.

5.    Assists in acquiring food items with cook.

6.    Engage in team work with other staff in order to promote a healthy, happy atmosphere for all the children and their families.

7.    Ensure all training hours are met per licensing and university requirements.

8.    Attend all staff meetings and In Service days.
